Jeff Wert & Ted Alexander for this unique tour of the We’ll begin the program Sunday night July 29th at 8 PM
with lectures by Dr. Richard A. Sauers and Dr. Mark Snell. Rick Sauers, a
noted authority on Gettysburg, will discuss the “Meade – Sickles
Controversy,” while Mark Snell, the director of the Shepherd University
Civil War Center, will assess the Union high command on the eve of the
Gettysburg campaign. On Monday morning we’ll start at the Cashtown
Inn and cover the sites, such as the railroad cut, Herbst
Woods – where the Iron Brigade was destroyed – Oak Hill, Coster Avenue and Barlow’s Knoll with the one and
only Ed Bearss.
On Tuesday, again with Ed Bearss as our guide, we’ll follow
Longstreet’s flank march, walk the Devil’s Den, stand on Little
Round Top, explore the Wheatfield, cover the action at Culp’s Hill and
charge with the 1st Wednesday will be devoted to the third and climatic day of the On Thursday Ted Alexander will
take you on a tour of sites in and around Friday’s agenda will be devoted to following Lee’s retreat
from A buffet style lunch is included each day with this five-day tour. In
addition, each participant will receive a detailed, tactical map packet along
with a variety of brochures and handouts to support the interpretation
presented by the guides. |
