We’ll start the program Saturday evening at 8PM with two lectures highlighting various aspects of the opening of the Gettysburg campaign. David Ward will discuss “McClellan’s Lieutenants : The Union High Command of 1862,”  while Robert E. L. Krick will deliver a talk concerning the high command of the Army Of Northern Virginia.

On Sunday you’ll spend the first of three days with the distinguished battle field guide Ed Bearss as he takes you down the Peninsula to Williamsburg, Lee’s Mill, Seven Pines and the U.S.S. Monitor Museum.  On Monday we’ll cover the operations known as the Seven Days’ Battles; from Beaver Dam Creek to Malvern Hill. On Tuesday we’ll visit Grant’s HQ at City Point, cover the opening actions of the siege of Petersburg, the battle of Fort Stedman and the famous Battle of the Crater. We’ll also visit Pamplin Park Museum and walk the battlefield of the Sixth Corps breakthrough on 2 April 1865. On the final day, with Robert E. L. Krick we’ll follow Lee’s retreat to Appomattox Court House stopping at Five Forks, Namozine Church, Dinwiddie Court House and of course we’ll end the day at the McLean house in Appomattox.
