Join Ed Bearss, Jeff Wert Mark Snell & Ted Alexander for this unique tour of the Battle of Gettysburg.

We’ll begin the program Sunday night July 27thth at 8 PM with lectures by Dr. Richard A. Sauers and  Jeff Wert.  Rick Sauers, a noted authority on Gettysburg, will discuss the “Meade – Sickles Controversy,” while Jeff Wert will give an overview of the Union high command on the eve of the Gettysburg campaign.

On Monday morning we’ll start at the Cashtown Inn and cover the sites, such as the railroad cut, Herbst Woods – where the Iron Brigade was destroyed – Oak Hill, Coster Avenue and Barlow’s Knoll with the one and only Ed Bearss. On Tuesday, again with Ed Bearss as our guide, we’ll follow Longstreet’s flank march, walk the Devil’s Den, stand on Little Round Top, explore the Wheatfield, cover the action at Culp’s Hill and charge with the 1st Minnesota.

Wednesday will be devoted to the third and climatic day of the Battle of Gettysburg. Noted historian Jeff Wert will take us to East Cavalry field and Culp’s Hill and lead the group from the Virginia Memorial to the Confederate high water mark on Cemetery Ridge.

On Thursday Mark Snell will take you on a tour of sites in and around Gettysburg. We’ll visit Prospect Hall where George Meade was given command of the Army of the Potomac, follow the I and XI Corps roads to Gettysburg, Neill Avenue – where the right flank of the Army of the Potomac can be found, along with other sites such as the “First Shot Marker.”

Friday’s agenda will be devoted to following Lee’s retreat with  Ted Alexander from Gettysburg to the Potomac River. Sites will include the cavalry engagement at Fairfield, Monterey Gap, Hagerstwon, Smithsburg, Funkstown and the house where Confederate Gen. Johnston Pettigrew was mortally wounded.

A buffet style lunch is included each day with this five-day tour. In addition, each participant will receive a detailed, tactical map packet along with a variety of brochures and handouts to support the interpretation presented by the guides.
