Join distinguished battlefield guide Ed Bearss for this two-day signature tour of one of the Civil War’s most decisive battlefields.

We’ll begin the weekend tour on Friday evening with two lectures beginning at 8 PM.  First, you’ll learn about the Confederate high command from Dennis Frye, while Ted Alexander will talk about the men in the ranks who wore the Blue & the Gray.

Saturday morning we’ll cover the opening action of the battle. After stopping at McClellan’s headquarters, the Pry House, we’ll follow Hooker’s route to the battlefield and deploy the Iron Brigade and the Pennsylvania Reserves.  Then, we’ll cover the action in the Cornfield and walk the advance of Sedgwick’s division to their impending ambush.

On Sunday we’ll, walk the Bloody Lane, stand with Burnside at the Rohrbach Bridge and follow the advance of the 16th Connecticut along the newly opened final attack trail.

This will be a detailed examination of the Battle of Antietam, with several walking excursions, that will take you to points on the battlefield which were previously inaccessible to visitors.
