This tour features the incomparable Ed Bearss, regarded as the dean of Civil War battlefield tour guides and lectures, Friday evening, by Dr. Mark Snell and Jeff Wert,  author of the highly acclaimed history of the ’64 Valley Campaign From Winchester to Cedar Creek.

Saturday morning we’ll depart at 8 AM for a day-long tour of the battlefields of Fisher’s Hill and Cedar Creek – scene of Sheridan’s famous ride from Winchester. We’ll start at Fisher’s Hill with a walk to the Confederate position held by Ramseur’s division and from that point we’ll enjoy a commanding view of the battlefield.  From Fisher’s Hill, we’ll then conduct an extensive tour of the battlefield of Cedar Creek which will include a walk along the earthworks held by Crook’s XIX Corps.

On Sunday, we’ll cover in detail the battlefield of 3rd Winchester. We’ll not only walk the ground owned and maintained by the Civil War Preservation Trust, but we’ll also lead the group over the 225 acres of the battlefield recently purchased by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation. (All proceeds from this tour will be donated to the SVBF).  This is your opportunity to visit parts of the 3rd Winchester battlefield which until recently were privately owned and inaccessible to the public. Join us for the most extensive tour ever conducted of these three battlefields!
