this unique five-day tour of the Battle of Gettysburg. We’ll begin the program Tuesday night October 22nd at 8 PM with
lectures by Robert K. Krick and Dr. Mark Snell. October 23
On Wednesday morning, with Bob
Krick as our guide, we’ll start at the Cashtown Inn and cover the sites, such as the railroad
cut, Herbst Woods – where the Iron Brigade was
destroyed – Oak Hill, Coster Avenue and Barlow’s Knoll along with Kuhn’s
brickyard. Monday evening lecture by Jeff Wert. October 24 On
Thursday, with Jeff Wert as our
guide, we’ll follow Longstreet’s flank march, walk the Devil’s Den, stand on
Little Round Top, explore the Wheatfield and finish the day with Gen. Sickles
in the Peach Orchard. Tuesday evening
lecture by Dr. Peter Carmichael. October 25 Friday,
we’ll follow legendary guide Ed Bearss and with him we’ll finish the second day of
the battle. We’ll start at the Trostle Barn where
Sickles was wounded, walk along Cemetery Ridge and stand with the 1st
Minnesota. In the afternoon we’ll walk Culp’s Hill and interpret the combat
action from Spangler meadow to the summit of Culp’s Hill. Evening lecture by Dr. Richard J. Sommers. October 26 On
Saturday Ed Bearss will
take you on a tour of the sites prominent in the final act of the great drama
at Gettysburg. We’ll start with the cavalry action between Custer and Stuart
and finish the morning in the Spangler meadow below Culp’s Hill. In the
afternoon we’ll walk in the footsteps of Pickett’s division and interpret the
Union defense of Cemetery Ridge. October 27 Sunday’s
agenda will be devoted to following Ed Bearss as we visit the site of the cavalry action
at Fairfield, cover Farnsworth’s
charge, visit Neill Avenue with Dean
Schultz and walk the Lincoln trail at Gettysburg. A buffet style lunch is included each day with this five-day tour. In
addition, each participant will receive a detailed, tactical map packet along
with a variety of brochures and handouts to support the interpretation
presented by the guides. |
