We’ll begin the weekend tour on Friday evening with two lectures beginning at . First, you’ll hear a reinterpretation of Ambrose Burnside’s impact on the Battle of Antietam from Dennis Frye, author of September Surprise while John Hoptak, author of the recent book The Battle of South Mountain will talk about this important prelude to America’s bloodiest day at Antietam.
Saturday morning we’ll cover the opening action of the battle. After
stopping at McClellan’s headquarters, the Pry House, we’ll follow Hooker’s
route to the battlefield and deploy the Iron Brigade and the
On Sunday we’ll, follow the Irish Brigade into action and walk the Bloody Lane, stand with Burnside at the Rohrbach Bridge and follow the advance of the 16th Connecticut along the newly opened final attack trail.
