Edwin Bearrs 1923-2020
I was heartbroken to learn last night that our dear friend and mentor, Ed Bearss, passed away yesterday of a heart attack. Ed, who turned 97 in June, had moved down to Mississippi with his daughter Jenny just a few weeks ago. When I last FaceTimed him, he looked well and was in good spirits.
We can take comfort in knowing that Ed is in the great beyond, pacing back and forth with his swagger stick chatting away with his heroes... grilling President Lincoln and Generals Grant and Lee, to get the lowdown on what really happened behind the scenes.

Ed, thank you so much for all you accomplished in your long, rewarding life. Your enthusiasm, passion, and energy in spreading the gospel of history was boundless. You touched so many lives. You were one of a kind. You will be remembered and you will be missed so very much. We are left with the countless things we learned from you and with many treasured memories. God speed, Ed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ed's family. If you would like to send them a note of condolence or share a favorite memory, you can send them to Ed's daughter, Jenny Bearss:

I'd like to share again with you one of my all-time favorite Ed moments. On November 23, 2019, Ed and I went to Gettysburg for the Remembrance Day Parade with our friend Dean Shultz. It quickly turned into the "Ed Bearss Parade." I believe it was the last Civil War function Ed attended and it turned out to be a glorious send off! Ed was high as a kite and tickled pink that day....
